about the founder
Josh Porter, Strategist & Consultant
For over 20 years, I’ve helped companies at every stage, from scrappy startups to global enterprises, bring complex technology to market with clarity and confidence. I’ve spent the last decade in Product Marketing and the decade prior in Growth Marketing.
My specialty is Product Marketing for AI products: turning technical innovation into stories that resonate with customers, analysts, and decision-makers.I’ve led product marketing teams, built go-to-market strategies, and guided launches that connected engineering breakthroughs to real-world adoption.
From Google to start-ups, along the way, I’ve developed a reputation for translating AI’s complexity into compelling narratives, the kind that win customers, secure analyst recognition, and fuel growth. At Thunderwolf Consulting, I bring that expertise to founders and leaders who need more than buzzwords.
My Approach
Operational rhythm
We’ll run marketing with a steady cadence. Predictable rhythms create speed, accountability, and fewer surprises as the company scales.
collaboration
I don’t operate as a vendor. I think like an owner, bring trade-offs to the table, and help you make calls with confidence.
Reliabilty
I’m responsible for all your marketing outcomes. Each quarter you’ll see reports on what’s happening and the plan for the next quarter.
speed with intent
We move fast without being reckless. We make decisions, ship, and learn quickly. Momentum beats perfection, especially in growth-stage companies.
positive culture
I’ll create a positive, collaborative culture in your marketing team, and delegate tasks to keep each person in their genius zone as much as possible.
clear thinking
You’ll get crisp points of view and clear recommendations. I reduce complexity so decisions are easier and execution doesn’t stall.
Why the name thunderwolf?
Thunderwolf comes from my Native American name, given by a tribal official. But more importantly, it reflects how I work and the leaders I serve.
The wolf represents leadership, strategy, and the ability to move as a pack. Wolves succeed through clarity, coordination, and trust. When they move, they move together. That is what growth-stage companies need as teams grow and complexity increases.
Thunder represents a strong voice. It is the moment a clear point of view cuts through the noise and is heard. Not louder for the sake of volume, but confident, focused, and impossible to ignore.
Thunderwolf sits at the intersection of those two ideas: a strong voice that aligns leaders and moves the pack.
That is the work I do with growth-stage AI founders and GTM leaders. I help teams find and articulate a clear product story so product, sales, and marketing speak with one voice and move forward with confidence.
The name is not about symbolism.
It is about clarity, alignment, and momentum.
